When Your Heart Is Heavy...

There are times in our lives when we are dealing with too much or are faced with too many obstacles or we are simply overwhelmed with life.  It is during these times when my heart is heavy.  Sometimes my heart is heavy for others and whatever it is that they may be going through.  I try my best to put on a happy face and rejoice in the day that God has given me, I try my best to wear a smile and recognize all of my blessings, I encourage you to do the same.  However, there are times when it feels as though it is taking everything in me to turn my frown upside-down. It is in these times that Matthew 12:34 comes to life for me, "out of the abundance of the heart does the mouth speak".  I encourage myself by reminding myself of other times when my heart was heavy and God brought me through the situation.  I remind myself of the battles God brought me out of before.  I remind myself of the prayers for others that I saw God answer right before my eyes.  I remind myself that I&#

Don't Be A Prisoner!

Don't allow depression to imprison you another day! I'm reminded of a movie called Shawshank Redemption.  In one of the scenes a man gets out of jail and so many years had passed that he wasn't used to moving vehicles and telephones ringing.  Today I think about someone locked up since the 1980's or the 1990's.  Imagine going to jail without ever touching or talking on a cell phone or owning a computer, without a thought of what a tablet is.  Imagine never, ever interacting with a touchscreen anything.  Forget about using a speaker phone or who on earth is Suri? Cars that operate without a key in the ignition.  GPS is absolutely frightening to imagine something electronic speaking to you in a vehicle.  Screens that show you how to park still baffle me, so imagine someone in this position.  Imagine when that person opens a computer or a phone and sees a person talking to them in real time and the person on the other end being able to see them looking confused.

You Are So Important!

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7   KJV You are so important to God.  He loves you more than you can understand.  Can you imagine giving someone food every single day of their lives?  The truth is you don't have that responsibility to anyone, not everyday of their entire life, anyway.  You may provide for most of a person's life, but not all of it. God gives us health and strength, wisdom and knowledge, food, clothing and shelter-for life.  He loves you.  He makes the way for you to have all of these things.  He blesses the people who provide for you.  He blesses the job that gives you the income to provide for yourself.  For many, He blesses the government that provides the subsidies. God loves you. He's given you the eyesight and knowledge to read and understand this.  Believe it or

Depression Will Never Win!

I spent the day looking at other sites and blogs that deal work depression. I though about my loved ones who battle depression and I thought about my battles with depression.  Depression does NOT win! There had to be a determination in our hearts to want to be happy again, to want to make it, to want to feel whole.  It's no better time than now to declare, "Depression...No More!

How's Your Hearing?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. God expects us to operate out of what we hear spiritually.  God tells us that we are above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. (Deut. 28:44)  The Word of God says that we are wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that everything (including you and me) is made beautiful in its time (Eccl. 3:11). So what is it that you are hearing?

Get Connected!

Your relationship with God the Father is more important than anything in this world. Look at how God blessed Abraham, Jacob and David. Look at how some people in your life today are living blessed. Think about how He's blessed you.  In the Bible we read how people were blessed but we don't talk about them being humans with faults. Abraham lied, Jacob tricked his father and David committed adultery and murder. Somehow, they all had something else in common. God walked, talked and visited with Abraham. Jacob wrestled with an angel. David had a repentant heart and he was a worshipper.  Through their faults and through our faults it is important to go to God and get it right. It is also very important to keep that relationship strong. Talk to God, think about Him, tell Him how grateful you are and his wonderful He is. Listen to Him. Sing to Him. Read His Word.  It would be hard for you to believe that someone loves you who never talks to you, listens to you or spends time wit

What Are You Thinking About?

It's Monday, August 1, 2016.  What are you thinking about?  What's on your mind?  How are you feeling? The Word of God assures us that we can have peace when we keep our minds focused on God.  Think about how good He's been to you.  Think about a time that you prayed and He answered you.  Consider where you would be without the Lord, isn't it good to know that you have a God, Savior, Father and Friend Who loves you and care about you?  Just think about Him for a few minutes.  Say a prayer, sing a song, write to Him.  Wait for the peace that He will give to you. Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
