Don't Be A Prisoner!

Don't allow depression to imprison you another day!

I'm reminded of a movie called Shawshank Redemption.  In one of the scenes a man gets out of jail and so many years had passed that he wasn't used to moving vehicles and telephones ringing.  Today I think about someone locked up since the 1980's or the 1990's.  Imagine going to jail without ever touching or talking on a cell phone or owning a computer, without a thought of what a tablet is.  Imagine never, ever interacting with a touchscreen anything.  Forget about using a speaker phone or who on earth is Suri? Cars that operate without a key in the ignition.  GPS is absolutely frightening to imagine something electronic speaking to you in a vehicle.  Screens that show you how to park still baffle me, so imagine someone in this position.  Imagine when that person opens a computer or a phone and sees a person talking to them in real time and the person on the other end being able to see them looking confused.  Scary thought, hunh?

Now think about yourself or the person that you love who's dealing with depression.  Think about the day, the week or weeks or even that month of depression.  Think about everything that is happening and being missed out on. It may not be as intense as a decade going by, but life has really moved on.  The chance and opportunity to participate in life has passed by and it is forever unavailable to get back.  You have to start again without memories of the days that were lost.

All is not lost.  The message here is, 'Don't Be A Prisoner!'.  Don't lose those days anymore.  Tell depression to take a backseat in your life.  Declare God's Word over how you feel.  You are a child of God and you are loved! (1 John 4:10)  Your Father is rich and desires great things for you! (Isaiah 45:3, Jeremiah 29:11, James 1:17)  You are healed! (Isaiah 53:5) You are forgiven! (Psalm 32:1, Ephesians 4:32).

DON'T BE A PRISONER!
