Move When You Hear Him!

Image
In Luke 7:3 and 4 we read how the Centurion heard about Jesus and immediately believed in HIM and sent for Him. How amazing would it be if we moved the moment we heard Jesus?  Where would we be in life if we moved when He spoke? Would we still call that person our friend, even though the relationship has been over for so long?  Would we still be at that job where there isn't a chance of growing?  Would we still live in that town where we feel stagnant and no longer at home? We should move quickly when we hear about God. We should believe HIM and look for Him! That's our lesson here, get moving and look for God in your situation.  God has already spoken to you.  Stop sitting still and go out to Him.    S M XL L   Your faith is what will carry you. God looks at our faith in HIM. Do you believe that God will save you, heal you, bring you out of that situation? It's a new year. It's time to move quickly when we hear...

Why Is it So Bad?

Image
God bless you today... I've often wondered about the things that have gone on in my life.  There are many reasons for the things that we suffer and no one is exempt from suffering.  As a Christian I wonder more about why I haven't successfully dealt with my circumstances. To narrow it down, for the most part it, it is our FOCUS.  We ask, "why is it so bad?", when we should ask, "What are we focusing on when things are at their worst?"  Our human nature is conditioned to looking at our circumstances instead of looking at God.  When we take our eyes off of God, we become like Peter when he walked on water, we become fearful and begin to drown. (Matthew 14:24-34).  Yes, we drown figuratively, the problem begins to rise over our heads and it completely consumes us.  How do we stop the drowning?  How do we come up for air?  How do we stop feeling the pulling sensation that causes us to feel death all around us?  Better, how do we mak...

Feeling Tired!

Image
Does the cold weather have you in a slump? Are January bills starting to pile up? Have the holidays left you feeling exhausted?   Here's the answer: Matthew 11:28 KJV - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. NLT - Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Jeremiah 6:16 KJV -    Thus saith the Lord , Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. NLT - This is what the Lord says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around.     Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.  Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. Also Read: Isaiah 55:1 - 3 John 6:37 Revelation 22:17 Isaiah 61:3 (one of my favorites)

Determined, Pt. 1: WORK!!!

Part 1 of Our "Determined" Series: It's time to take an honest look at ourselves.  I know I can look at myself extra hard in this matter.  It's important that we work and it's important that we work "well".   In our efforts to succeed at life, we must have a sense of determination.  What better place to start than with ourselves?  We must ensure that we are first doing the "work" necessary to become successful.  What work is it that we should be doing?  Well, let's start with what we're doing now.  Solomon is stating in this scripture that the best time to work is NOW before we go to the grave. Maybe you aren't in your dream job.  It is possible that you aren't on a job at all.  What are you doing?  Do you take care of your home?  Do you help people?  Do it "well".  Work well at listening to people, being helpful, cleaning your home, taking care of yourself, reading your Bible, studying it and praying.  St...

Don't Ignore This Relationship!

Can you imagine a child without a relationship with their parents?  What would it be like if you never spoke to your mother or your father?   How would you feel about a best friend who never called or stopped by? Where would a marriage be if the husband and wife never communicated or if the communication was one-sided?  When does it become necessary to interact with someone who you love, i.e., a parent, a spouse, a child, a sibling? Relationships are important in our lives.  The greatest relationship that we should have is with our God Who created us.  He desires our time and our attention.  He always blesses us.  It's time that we bless Him with the gift of a relationship.   Psalm 139:13-14 King James Version     (13) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. (14) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

You Are So Important!

Image
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7   KJV You are so important to God.  He loves you more than you can understand.  Can you imagine giving someone food every single day of their lives?  The truth is you don't have that responsibility to anyone, not everyday of their entire life, anyway.  You may provide for most of a person's life, but not all of it. God gives us health and strength, wisdom and knowledge, food, clothing and shelter-for life.  He loves you.  He makes the way for you to have all of these things.  He blesses the people who provide for you.  He blesses the job that gives you the income to provide for yourself.  For many, He blesses the government that provides the subsidies. God loves you. He's given you the eyesight and knowledge to read...

How's Your Hearing?

Image
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. God expects us to operate out of what we hear spiritually.  God tells us that we are above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. (Deut. 28:44)  The Word of God says that we are wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that everything (including you and me) is made beautiful in its time (Eccl. 3:11). So what is it that you are hearing?

4 Steps to Dealing With the Loss of Your Loved One...

Get Connected!

Your relationship with God the Father is more important than anything in this world. Look at how God blessed Abraham, Jacob and David. Look at how some people in your life today are living blessed. Think about how He's blessed you.  In the Bible we read how people were blessed but we don't talk about them being humans with faults. Abraham lied, Jacob tricked his father and David committed adultery and murder. Somehow, they all had something else in common. God walked, talked and visited with Abraham. Jacob wrestled with an angel. David had a repentant heart and he was a worshipper.  Through their faults and through our faults it is important to go to God and get it right. It is also very important to keep that relationship strong. Talk to God, think about Him, tell Him how grateful you are and his wonderful He is. Listen to Him. Sing to Him. Read His Word.  It would be hard for you to believe that someone loves you who never talks to you, listens to you or spends ti...

Look in the Mirror!

Image
Tip of the Day! Sometimes a person gets depressed to the point that they refuse to look in the mirror.  For whatever reason, they may have, the idea of looking in a mirror repulses them.  This is one of the many signs to pay attention to with ourselves and/or our loved ones, just like sadness that has lingered for more than 2 - 3 days or failure to bathe oneself. Did you know that we are the mirrored image of God?  The issue that we face is that the mirror is dirty on our side because of our sin, flesh and emotions.  We sometimes work to clean the mirror.  We exhaust ourselves in an attempt to make the image better.  We struggle to create an image that we can be pleased with.  What is really important is that we recognize that our image is dirty to start with and it's through our daily presentation of our lives and our obedience to God, that God can perform the necessary cleaning.  We can decide to allow God to clean us, but we really don't...

Stop Letting Things Get in the Way!

Image
Tip of the Day! Philippians 4:4-9 4  Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. 5  Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Don't Fail the Test!

Image
Your problem IS the lesson! Take a step back and look at your problem again. 1. What went wrong? How and when did this problem begin?  Do you remember how you felt at that time? Were there any warnings?  What happened? 2. What is your part in all of it? What is your part in all of this?  What did you do or what didn't you do?  What did you tolerate?  What did you cooperate with? 3. What should you do differently next time? How else could you have handled this issue?  What should you have done that you can do better the next time, if there's a next time? How did you do this time that you should not have done? 4. How do you avoid this problem from now on? If it's possible to avoid this problem, what must you do to avoid it from now on?  How do you separate yourself from this issue? 5. What did you learn? What's the lesson from all of this?  What did you learn that you didn't understand before?   God has given you grace ...

You Can Make Someone Happy!

Tip of the Day! Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with  brother ly love;

While we scream REFORM, let's Face the TRUTH!...

It's hard to talk or write today.  I woke up to bad news and went to sleep to bad news (both nationally and personally) 2 days in a row.  Pray for America.  Pray for all of us.  Pray for me. I know we'll get through it and I comfort myself with this confidence, I just feel so hurt right now.

As Long As You're Breathing, You Have Another Chance!

Image
Tip of the Day! Another chance to do differently.  Another chance to get it right.  Who told you it was over?  Why did you believe them?  As long as you are breathing, you have another chance! Lamentations 3:22-24 (KJV) 22  It is of the  Lord 's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24  The  Lord  is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

Stop Avoiding God!

Image
Tip of the Day! We avoid God when we feel pain, hurt, sadness or any emotion that we think that we can handle.  If you were able to handle these emotions, you would have by now.  You messed up, go to God.  You're feeling hurt, go to God.  Stop avoiding God!  He loves you and He's patiently waiting for you.

Our 100th Post!

Good Morning! This is the 100th post!  Thank you so much!  I love you for following, listening and liking what God has given me to share with you.  Since April 19, 2016 there's been something to relate to, read about and think about posted on this page with the goal of defeating depression.

Tip of the Day!

Journal Each Moment! Sometimes the things that depress us are minor, other times they are major.  I have experienced times when I didn't even recognize that I had fallen into a depression.  Have you ever experienced this?  Have you looked back and said, "wow, I was depressed and didn't know it?".  I find it helpful to keep a journal and I'll admit that it's something that I need to go back to doing.  It doesn't have to be a journal of doom and gloom either!  You can write all of the wonderful things that happen in your life, your small victories, your happy times, etc.  Write how good God has been to you?  Write about the things that make you happy.  Write your plan to make your life better and how you plan to do so. Habakkuk 2:1-3  (KJV) 1  I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2  And the Lord answered me, and...
