I Want NOTHING More Than God Alone!

Good Morning and Happy 4th of July!

Today's Psalm is the highest degree of the 3 Psalms before it. Its the 4th degree. You can read Psalm 120 - 123 for the full content if you'd like. The author appears to be unknown and add-ons suggest that this was written after David.

The prayer is strong and desperate. The writer compares looking for God like a servant who keeps their eyes on their master. Never looking elsewhere. The writer then asks for God's mercy.  Mercy for being filled with feelings unlike God or that disappoint God.

Does it upset us when we think our do things that God doesn't want us to do? Are our eyes on God? The writer is at a point where they want NOTHING more than God ALONE!

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.  Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.  Have mercy upon us, O Lord , have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.  Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
Psalms 123:1‭-‬4 KJV
