Faith & Patience
We look everywhere for a quick schemes. Get-rich quick, lose weight quick, learn quick, etc. We are living in a "microwave" age where we want everything Quick.Fast. and in a Hurry.
We live in a "microwave" age.
In the book of James, the 1st chapter, it's a lot different. Here we are told that we are going to experience troubles. We are told to have joy while we experience these problems because it is a testing of our faith. Trust is believing and knowing without a shadow of doubt that God will come through. Faith requires patience. Patience means wait a while. The while doesn't have a timer, it can be fast or slow, but waiting definitely comes with the territory. It's important while we faithfully wait to believe and stay focused on the goal.
We absolutely can not be double minded. We must have faith and be patient when we ask anything of God. For example, to ask God for a house, you have to believe God for the house. If you turn around and say, "I'll never get a house", you're faith is not in action. If you ask God to help you and then you do things your own way, this is a lack of patience and it says that you don't trust God for His perfect way. Every thing in your life takes FAITH and PATIENCE.
James 1:2-8:
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
